WEDA Industrielösungen GmbH manufactures pneumatic cutters for industrial sewing machines and automation in Reutlingen (Germany): tape cutters, guillotines, chain cutters and trimmers.
These devices take the work of cutting by hand away from the operator. They are fitted to the machine or the table and cut tape, chain, lace or bands exactly when needed, always in the same place. WEDA has been making them for series sewing for more than 50 years and supplies spare parts for every component.

Why a pneumatic cutter in the sewing room
At many workstations the operator cuts by hand several times per piece: the tape, the chain, the elastic, the excess thread. Each cut takes a few seconds and, by the end of the shift, adds up to many minutes of work that sew nothing. A pneumatic cutter makes that cut at the right moment and always in the same place, without letting go of the piece.
The cut also comes out the same on every piece, material is used better when sewing continuously from the roll, and the operator doesn’t work with scissors or a cutter next to the needle.
How to choose the cutter
It depends on where and what you cut. If the cut comes right at the end of the seam, the device is fitted to the machine: a WA-1102 tape cutter, the WA-0605 fast scissors or the WA-1088 for wide tapes. If you cut by hand at the workstation, the WA-0790 built into the table. For thick material or large widths, a WA-0196 guillotine. And to separate pieces sewn continuously, the WA-1207 chain cutter.
