OtherWhen to choose a manual cutter
The manual cutter is still the most cost-effective tool for occasional cuts, samples, short runs and workshops that can’t justify automatic cutting. It also complements automatic cutting for trimming and touch-ups.
Blade types
- Straight knife: cuts high lays and follows curves with good precision. It is the most versatile in garment manufacturing.
- Round knife: fast and light, for few plies and straight cuts or gentle curves.
- Band knife: the endless blade is fixed and the material moves. It gives maximum precision on small pieces.
- Cross cutter: cuts the fabric from side to side on the table, at the end of each ply.
Blades and sharpening
On a manual cutter, cut quality depends on the blade and the sharpening. We supply Kuris spare parts, as well as blades and consumables for other brands (see our spare parts guide).
What we need to know to advise you

With that information we will tell you which equipment makes sense for your production and which doesn’t, even if the answer is that you don’t need to change anything.
